You Better Watch Out! (A Christmas threat)

We got warned just about every day

we’d get coal in our stockings if we were bad

a couple months before Christmas.

We were told that Santa was watching us

each and every day and he knew what we

were up to, more so than our parents did!

We pictured the old man with the big white beard

and a big fat belly giving orders to his elves

all the time his eyes looking in our windows!

We dared not open our eyes once we got in bed

on Christmas Eve for fear that we might see the old

man staring at us to see if we listened to our parents.

We always left a snack for Santa, hoping that he

wasn’t too stuffed when he got to our house and

praying that he had something left for us.

We feared that if we sneaked out to the tree too early

in the morning and caught Santa putting our gifts under the tree

that he would take them back and we would be doomed!
