My Brother Andy

He got me to drive his dirt bike one time

and I skidded right down into the mud

He took two of my sons trouting in the summer

and they came back like drowned rats

He ate a full bun of homemade bread

with strawberry jam before he went to bed one night

He let me take his picture with a large salmon

and pretended he caught the fish

He always had a smile and a joke

and never gave up trying to get us on his motorcycle

He loved being with his family and friends

and his death left a lot of hearts lonely

My brother Andrew Albert Finlay drowned at the age of 28, after he fell over the ferry the Sir Robert Bond. He was on his way to work in Labrador.

About Newfoundland Traveller

I'm a Newfoundlander with a love of reading, writing and travelling. I've travelled around our province and lived in four provinces of Canada. I love a good book and a good blog. My family means the world to me, and some day I hope to travel to many countries of the world with my husband and sons' families.
