The Ed Sullivan Show

The Ed Sullivan Show

Ed Sullivan

I watched it more when I was in

my late teens, during the one episode

a week and everyone gathered around

to see who was going to be featured this week

It was fun especially if the show included

puppets and ventriloquists which are

the shows that I remember best

for the humour and creativity involved

It started in 1948 every Sunday night

until 1971 and included many performers

such as Jim Henson and his muppets’

"Ready Teddy"

Elvis Presley

twenty-five appearances

Elvis was a guest on the show three

times although there was some talk

about whether he was going to appear

and how much of his body should be shown

The Beatles performing "Help!" in Au...

The Beatles in 1965

The Beatles appeared three Sundays

in a row in February of 1964 when

I Want To Hold Your Hand

rose to #1 in the charts

The Supremes were a special act

for the Ed Sullivan Show and

appeared nearly thirty times

and were called “The Girls”
