Rest Day In Porto

It was difficult not throwing on the backpack this morning. The temperature had dropped to 14 degrees C and it is a good temperature for walking. But we had decided to be tourists today. We paid for an extra night at the hotel on the camino route and headed out to find the train for tomorrow’s hike. Yvonne is a planner so within 20 min we had figured out the route, train line and the cost. So with that done we returned to the Veracruz Cafe and ordered toast and tea for Y and Americano coffee for moi. The marmalade is homemade and delicious. I had to ask for monteiga(butter) as it is just dried up bread without it. (1.50 euros for coffee and 1.20 for toast and jam).

Back to hotel and we purchased tickets for historic tour of Porto for 12 euros each. Worth every penny, once we got on bus. It took over 2 hours but we saw churches, castles, bridges, river, longest street, Port wine buildings and on and on. We would have gone on a river cruise but it was too wet and we saw and heard lots.

We are resting up for our journey to Vilarinho tomorrow. We will be heading out of the busy streets by train. Our plan now is to do 11-18 each day so that we arrive by June 2 or 3 in Santiago de Compostela.
